How are the turkeys raised?

Our Broad Breasted White turkeys are pasture-­raised outdoors and regularly rotated to fresh grass. They are antibiotic free and supplemented with a locally-­produced, non-­GMO grain mix. Finishing feed is also soy free.

How are they harvested?

By hand in our on-farm, USDA-inspected processing abattoir. Our birds do not travel long distances to our on-farm processing area, and each bird is moved by hand throughout the process. They are not pumped full of water and saline solution as most commercially processed birds are.

 

Will I get the weight I order?

We select a turkey for you as close to your preferred weight as possible. The earlier you order, the better your chance of getting the size you requested.

We expect our turkeys to weigh 12 – 20 lbs. The last few years, turkeys weighed in on the larger size due to good growing conditions for the birds and grass. We know many of you prefer smaller sized options, so we continue to make tweaks to meet your needs. This year, we ordered two different batches of turkey poults, two weeks apart, hoping the second set will provide some lighter weight birds for you!

 

What will I receive?

A freshly-­dressed, fully-­chilled, never­-frozen whole turkey ready to be cooked; neck and giblets (heart, liver, gizzard) included. If you do not prefer a whole bird, for a $10 cutting fee, a whole bird (2 drumsticks, 2 thighs, 2 wings, 1 whole breast, 1 cut back & neck, giblets) will be packaged in freezable bags for your convenience. Request this option on the reservation form.

 

How do I hold my turkey until cooking?

While your fresh turkey will safely keep on a refrigerator shelf for a day or two, for longer holding times we recommend an ice chest large enough to hold at least twice as many pounds of ice as pounds of turkey. Don’t forget to drain the chest and refill with ice as needed!

Can I order a turkey breast (or other parts)?

We take orders for whole birds only, with the option available to cut the whole bird into pieces (1 whole breast, 2 drumsticks, 2 thighs, 2 wings, 1 cut back & neck, giblets). Please request this option on the reservation form! An additional $10 is charged for this service.

However, at pick up, whole breasts, thighs, drumsticks and giblets are usually available for sale individually. Please email us to reserve single parts.

 

Can I order a turkey for Christmas (or other occasion)?

Yes, we can freeze and hold your turkey until you are ready to pick it up.
