Mountain Mint - FRESH

Mountain Mint - FRESH

A powerhouse plant, mountain mint is considered a universal medicinal. It's an analgesic, antiseptic, carminative, expectorant, astringent, sedative, tonic, and more. The leaves can be used to make a poultice for treating cuts,

scrapes, bruises, stings, and bites. They can also be thrown in bath water to soothe skin irritation such as eczema.

In addition to being medicinal, it's also edible with a minty (slightly on the bitter side), pungent, herbal flavor. It's a great addition to salads or soups. It also can serve as a breath freshener. Highly nutritious, it's full of vitamin C, E, A, and K, as well as minerals such as magnesium, calcium, and manganese.

In addition to being medicinal and edible, mountain mint is an effective insect repellent. Dry the leaves to create a sachet to put in drawers to deter moths. Or, rub the leaves on your clothes and skin to repel mosquitoes, ticks, chiggers, gnats, and biting flies.
