Why purchase beef in bulk?
How much space do I need in my freezer?
A rule of thumb is one cubic foot of freezer space for each 35-40 pounds of cut and wrapped meat. Allow slightly more space when the meat is packaged in odd shapes.
The final packaged beef could weigh a little over 400 pounds, but will vary depending on factors such as the size of the actual animal, whether or not you choose to take the bones, the percentage of fat you keep in the ground meat, and whether or not you opt to save the fat.

What is the cost?
You pay a certain amount per pound of the hanging weight plus butcher costs.
Beef whole: $6.56/lb. hanging weight (usually ~500 lbs. for whole)
Butchering costs: $675 (rough estimate) for a whole beef
