What are the benefits of purchasing a whole hog?

  • Locks in your supply ahead of time
  • Saves shopping time and travel
  • Avoid future price increases
Allows a choice of cutting options, sausage recipe selection, no-nitrate smoked products and even sugar free selections if desired
  • Set aside your special holiday

How much space do I need in my freezer?

A rule of thumb is one cubic foot of freezer space for each 35-40 pounds of cut and wrapped meat. Allow slightly more space when the meat is packaged in odd shapes.

A hog could be a little over 150 pounds of final cut wrapped meat, but will vary depending on size of actual animal and if you choose to take the bones, the percentage of fat you keep in the ground meat, if you choose to save the fat, etc.

What cuts do I get?

Illustrated below are the basic primal cuts from a hog and the variety of items cut from each. We will work with you to order the cuts you prefer and communicate those choices to the butcher shop!

What is the cost?

You pay an amount per pound of the hanging weight plus butcher costs.

Pork whole:   $5.75/lb. hanging weight (usually 160 – 200 lbs.)

Butchering costs:    $325 (rough estimate) for a whole pig
